Har Shalom believes that a synagogue is an extension of your family, a warm and caring place where you can find spiritual nurturing, education for your entire family, opportunities for social activities or a chance to practice Jewish values. Our operating committees, listed below, are waiting for you to become involved.
EDUCATION COMMITTEE – Sheehan Rosen
We offer adult classes taught by various congregation members including Hebrew I, Hebrew II, Beginnings of Judaism, and conversion classes.
We also offer Atidaynu, our Jewish Sunday School, meeting every other week through the school year. This program provides a quality education for our children, Kindergarten through 7th grade, in an enriched Jewish environment, and is dedicated to instilling within each student a joyful attitude toward Judaism. Students receive an education in Jewish principles including bible stories, history, holidays, basic Hebrew language, ethics and Israel. In addition, students are guided to prepare for b’nai mitzvah study.
BUILDING COMMITTEE – David Cox, Chair
This committee is responsible for the improvements, maintenance, repairs, and usage of the building.
FUNDRAISING & FINANCE COMMITTEE – Sherry Kolenda, Chair
This committee is charged with maintaining the financial integrity and stability of the Synagogue. The Committee works on annual dues pledges and collections, annual financial statements, annual budgeting, and works with congregants who need assistance with annual dues level.
MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE – Joy Earls, Chair
The Membership Committee is responsible for recruiting, attracting, and retaining members. This committee proposes membership requirements and prepares membership materials and events.
RUACH COMMITTEE – Barb Gross, Chair
The mission of this committee is to provide Har Shalom’s members with
a worship experience that is meaningful and caring. In addition to preparing for religious events and holidays, the committee has worked closely with our student rabbi and Board of Directors to develop a service leadership training program.
